What Should the Minimum Wage Be (USA)?
by Village Idiot induring the gop debates donald trump said that american’s “wages [are] too high” and later said “that having a low minimum wage is not a bad thing for this country” (7:25)..
do you agree and if so why?.
my two cents on this issue; do the math.

What about people flocking to areas with higher minimum wages? Wouldn't it contribute to accelerated urbanization? - good questions, and I don't think that accelerated urbanization is a good thing.
In the more expensive parts of London, e.g. Chelsea, South Kensington, it's impossible for someone on the minimum wage plus London Waiting to live in these areas
i think you mean London Weighting

welcome to jwn Stepford.
my take on this--is to get your husband well and truly on your side. be extra wifey to him--in all ways. make him realise what he could lose.
then ask him to handle all the elder interest in you. your reason could--quite correctly--be that something has stumbled you very badly and you need time to work it out for yourself---and that you are happy to wait on jehover to show you the way.

Thought control - sexual fantasizing is wrong - May 2016 Watchtower
by Listener in>>the bible reveals that jehovah issaddened when people pursue a wick-ed course and ‘the inclination of theirthoughts is only bad all the time.’ (readgenesis 6:5, 6.
) from this we can per-ceive that sexual fantasizing is wrongbecause it can lead to serious sin that isforbidden in the scriptures and is out ofharmony with jehovah’s way of think-ing.the disciple james wrote: “the wis-dom from above is first of all pure, thenpeaceable, reasonable, ready to obey, full of mercy and good fruits, impar-tial, not hypocritical.” (jas.
3:17) beingaware of this, we should be moved toreject entertainment that fuels impurethoughts and inclinations.

for once i have to agree with the watchtower.
for years i used to fantasize about a particular sister in the congregation. she was lovely. she was my hearts desire. she was married--so was i.
and what good did this do me ?
answer:
i ended up banging the living daylights out of her. booked a suite in a hotel and did it in style. lost count at 17 times that night. went on to shack up together. best sex ive ever had. it lasted best part of a year. i still have very vivid memories of it all.
and that all happened 35 years ago.

$10 per pub. Money begging session last night
by StarTrekAngel inlast night, during our "christian life and ministry" meeting, we had a session on local needs.
elder opened the talk with a disclaimer saying that this was a reminder (cited psalms about how david loved jehovahs reminders).
he reminded us of how bless we are of having our own local assembly hall.

Books I read when I deprogrammed
by OrphanCrow inblondie suggested someone start a thread with a list of books that are valuable to read when exiting the jws.. i will start.. i left the jws way back in the early 70s and didn't actually deprogram until into the 80s.. one of the first books i read was "the orwellian world of jehovah's witnesses" by gary and heather botting.
canadian exjws from calagary.
an excellent book and one that still resonates with young people today.

i quit the cult in 1971. i never even thought of reading any books about it--i didnt even know any.
i trusted my instinct: i know i hated everything about my involvement with the cult--pioneering--being a servant--even getting married in a kingdumb hall. i felt a huge weight lifted off when i quit--and that was 45 years ago.
in recent years i stumbled on to this whole internet ex jw / apostacy thing. up till then i had no idea there were so many others who had gone--or were going--through similar phases as i had.
i even bought one book--C of C--and read half of it--from the middle to the end. i had no interest in looking at the watchtower " cut and paste" bits in it. i then gave it away to another xj who was keen to read it.
in fact--i wonder if C of C had been available in free public libraries whether all this copyright fuss could have been avoided.
